It’s tightest on the first wear
A new suit feels tightest the first time it’s worn. It stretches a bit more once wet. After one or two swims, it typically loosens slightly without losing effectiveness.
Elastane needs rest to recover
A higher spandex content means more stretch-and-recover, and that recovery needs downtime. Rotating between two suits gives each one time to spring back into shape.
Heat causes damage that doesn’t reverse
Hot tubs and saunas break down elastane permanently. A quick shower before getting in the pool means the fabric absorbs fresh water first, which cuts down how much chlorine it soaks up.
