What’s actually recycled, and how much
Arena’s MaxLife Eco line runs on at least 50% recycled polyester. Nike’s HydraStrong body fabric is 51% recycled polyester. Orca’s Core line uses 80% recycled material, GRS certified. Zoggs' Ecolast+ fabric is built from REPREVE, a recycled polyester yarn made from plastic bottles. Adidas runs two versions: its standard Infinitex line uses recycled polyamide, while the Parley collaboration line uses ECONYL, a nylon regenerated from ocean and landfill waste including fishing nets.
Recycled content and chlorine resistance aren’t linked
A high recycled share doesn’t predict how well a suit holds up to chlorine. Orca’s Core one-piece is 80% recycled and uses a PBT-blend fabric built for chlorine exposure. Orca’s own Core jammer, also 80% recycled, is a nylon-elastane compression build meant for open water rather than daily pool laps. Check the fabric line name for durability, and the recycled percentage separately for material sourcing.
Where the recycled fiber comes from
Most recycled polyester in this list traces back to plastic bottles. ECONYL is the exception — it’s regenerated nylon, sourced partly from discarded fishing nets and other nylon waste rather than bottles.
